Francis ALLARD

Francis Allard is emeritus professor at La Rochelle Université, France, Chairman of TIPEE (Technology Innovation Platform for Environmental Efficiency) and board member of AICVF, French Association of HVAC Engineers, he received his Doctor Engineer diploma in Building Physics at INSA, in Lyon in 1975 and Doctorate Es Sciences in 1987. After 2 years in Venezuela where he created CEMERSOL (Solar Energy Lab) in 1979 within the frame of the French scientific cooperation program, he became Staff Scientist at CNRS from 1982 to 1992. Since 1992 he has been professor at La Rochelle Université, where he founded and directed the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and the Laboratory of Engineering Sciences for the Environment (LaSIE). He has been also Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (1997-2002) and Vice-Rector for Research and Doctoral Studies from 2008 to 2012. His scientific competences are centred on heat and mass transfers in buildings and urban environments. He is member of numerous scientific councils; he has been from 2011 to 2016 Chairman of the Scientific Council of the French Indoor Air Quality Observatory. He was also a member of the French High Council for Public Health and several national committees for research in energy and building sector.
Francis Allard has been the President of REHVA (European Federation of HVAC Engineer Associations) from 2008 to 2011, and in 2015 he received the “REHVA Gold Medal” for his professional contributions. He received, in 2020, the John Rydberg Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to the research in his field and in 2022 the “Corresponding Membership of the VDI” (German Association of Engineers) for his significant contribution to cooperation in Europe in his work. ⇐ back
