Volkan Doda is the Head of Design Technologies at Atelier Ten’s US offices and the 2025 CIBSE Engineer of the Year. With a background in architecture, engineering science, and environmental design, he’s spent his career at the overlap of disciplines where the spreadsheets meet the sketchbooks.
Since joining Atelier Ten in 2013, he’s worked on a wide range of projects from resorts carved into desert mountains to unloved 1980s office blocks in need of a greener future. Along the way, he’s led teams, mentored future designers, and set up knowledge-sharing networks that ensure no good new idea stays hidden for long.
Volkan is currently exploring how AI and data might change the way we design buildings, while reminding everyone that sound sustainable design remains a team sport regardless of which tools we adopt to deliver it.
