
Gülsu Ulukavak HARPUTLUGİL

Gülsu Ulukavak Harputlugil has been working as an academic researcher in the field of architecture since 1998. She completed her undergraduate, master’s and doctoral studies at Gazi University. Since joining Çankaya University in 2014, she has continued her academic career there and currently serves as a full time Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, where she is responsible for various undergraduate and graduate courses, including Architectural Design Studio, Building Physics and Construction Systems. Her academic interests include climate-responsive and energy-efficient building design, net-zero energy/carbon/water buildings, and performance-based design. Since 2010, her research has focused on comfort-driven occupant behaviour, retrofit strategies for the existing building stock, and climate change adaptation strategies for buildings and communities.
Her research has been funded by TÜBİTAK and the British Council Newton Fund, and she has taken part in several national and international research projects as a senior expert in the field.
In 2017, she established IBPSA-Turkey, the Turkish chapter of the International Building Performance Simulation Association, under the umbrella of TTMD, and served as its chair until 2024. She also served as a member of the 16th Term Board of Directors of TTMD. She currently represents the Republic of Türkiye as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency Energy in Buildings and Communities Technology Collaboration Programme.
